Self-adhesive labels for cosmetics that withstand everyday use

At Gráficas Alarcón, we manufacture self-adhesive labels for cosmetics, combining expert technical guidance from our design team with the first digital finishing machine of its kind installed in Spain.

We produce labels on rolls for cosmetics, dermocosmetics and perfumery brands that need packaging labels capable of withstanding creams, oils and moisture, performing reliably on automated labelling lines and standing out on retail shelves.

Dermocosmetics brands such as Sesderma already trust us with their labels.

Choosing self-adhesive labels for cosmetics is not just about design. It is about ensuring that the label withstands the product formulation, packaging material and labelling process throughout the cosmetic product’s lifespan.

Technical requirements for self-adhesive labels for cosmetics

Self-adhesive labels for cosmetics must meet requirements that go beyond those of conventional labels. They remain in contact with the product, water and consumers’ hands for months. These are the key factors we assess in every project:

  • Resistance to creams, oils and alcohol: Oils, active ingredients and hydroalcoholic formulations can weaken adhesives or damage printed inks if the material is not properly protected. That is why we work with coated and laminated materials.

  • Moisture and water resistance: Labels must withstand bathroom steam, condensation and contact with wet hands without wrinkling or peeling.

  • Resistance to everyday handling and transportation: Anti-scratch lamination helps protect printed surfaces against abrasion and wear.

  • Long-lasting legibility: Batch numbers, expiry dates or Period After Opening (PAO) information, ingredients and warnings must remain readable until the product is finished, even when printed in very small font sizes.

  • Adhesion suited to each container: Glass, plastic, curved surfaces and small-diameter containers require different adhesives. An unsuitable adhesive can cause edges to peel or bubbles to form.

  • Reliable performance on automated labelling lines: Labels supplied on rolls must dispense smoothly, without jams or misalignment during automatic application.

  • Adhesion at low temperatures and under temperature fluctuations: Labels must maintain their performance when products are stored or transported in cold conditions.

Labels for creams and cosmetics that resist product exposure

We manufacture labels for creams and cosmetics using coated materials with protective lamination designed to withstand contact with creams, oils and bathroom moisture. This ensures that batch numbers, expiry dates and ingredient lists remain legible throughout the product’s lifespan.

Our lamination options include matte, anti-scratch, gloss and embossed finishes.

Before printing, our technical team assesses the product formulation, intended use and conditions the label will encounter, including moisture, cold temperatures, oils and alcohol. Based on this assessment, we recommend the most suitable material.

The result is cosmetic labels resistant to creams, oils and moisture that do not wrinkle, fade or peel during everyday handling.

Self-adhesive labels for cosmetic jars and bottles: the right adhesive for every container

Every container requires a suitable adhesive. That is why we assess each project before production.

A glass bottle, cream jar or plastic container behaves differently during automated labelling and everyday use. We recommend the appropriate adhesive for your packaging material and automatic labelling line.

Our self-adhesive labels for cosmetic jars and bottles are designed with the application process in mind.

This preliminary technical assessment helps reduce the risk of jams, peeling labels and production downtime, which are major concerns for laboratories and cosmetics brands operating continuous packaging lines.

Self-adhesive labels for dermocosmetics: extensive information in limited space

In dermocosmetics, labels often need to communicate a large amount of information within a very small surface area.

Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 establishes requirements for clear, legible and durable cosmetic product labelling, including batch identification, expiry dates or PAO information, ingredients and warnings.

In addition, Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 expands the list of fragrance allergens that must be declared, with mandatory application for new products from 31 July 2026 and for all products already on the market from 31 July 2028.

Our self-adhesive labels for dermocosmetics are designed for small containers and reduced font sizes, ensuring that essential information remains readable.

Your brand defines the content, while we ensure accurate printing and durability throughout product use.

If additional information is required, we can incorporate a QR code to complement the mandatory information displayed on the packaging.

Premium finishes with our new digital finishing technology

We have incorporated the first digital finishing machine of its kind installed in Spain and the third in Europe.

This technology allows us to apply digital screen printing, raised resin-effect finishes, foil stamping and gloss effects, which can also be combined with variable data printing, even for short production runs, product launches and special editions.

For foil stamping and raised varnish applications, there are no initial tooling costs, making premium finishes commercially viable for product references that previously could not justify them due to production volume.

The technology works with all types of materials, and our technical team advises you on the most suitable option for your product.

These digital finishes complement our existing Digital Offset and Waterless Offset printing capabilities, including gloss, matte and embossed lamination, screen printing, hot stamping, embossing, debossing, blind embossing, 3D raised effects, label cut-outs and Volugraf.

Designers, not sales representatives: expert advice before printing

When you contact us, you speak directly with our design team, not a sales representative or an automated platform.

We respond within 24–48 business hours and review your artwork before it reaches production, checking bleeds, layers, vectors, spot colours and die-cutting specifications.

We also offer cosmetic label design and redesign services for brands looking to strengthen and professionalise their visual identity.

Certified quality and consistent colour across production runs

In the cosmetics industry, label colour is an essential part of brand identity and must remain consistent from one order to the next.

Our colour management system ensures a colour deviation below ΔE 3 between orders, while machine vision inspection systems monitor labels during printing to maintain production consistency.

We hold BRC Packaging certification, work with low-migration inks and are approved by designations of origin.

Cosmetics brands such as Sesderma already trust us to manufacture their labels.

No-label-look cosmetic labels for the Thermals collection

For Thermals, the cosmetics collection developed by Balneario de Fuentepodrida using mineral-medicinal water from its own natural spring, we manufactured labels designed to let the product speak for itself.

For the 500 ml shower gel, we used transparent polypropylene film with black screen printing and gold and silver hot stamping.

This combination allows the label to blend seamlessly into the bottle, creating the impression that the design has been printed directly onto the container: the distinctive no-label look.

For the 250 ml facial mist, we selected silver metallised paper, using digital printing to simulate a foil-stamping effect against an intense black background. This creates a consistent visual identity across the entire product range.

For both products, we selected water- and moisture-resistant adhesives suitable for bathroom and shower environments, together with low-migration inks.

The Thermals labels are built around a distinctive natural asset: the mineral-medicinal spring water from Balneario de Fuentepodrida. The labels needed to communicate this purity without unnecessary visual elements, and that is precisely what they achieve.

500 ml shower gel: a seamless no-label-look finish

The shower gel is an excellent example of a carefully executed no-label-look cosmetic label.

The transparent polypropylene film virtually disappears against the bottle, while black screen printing provides the opacity and depth needed to make the typography stand out.

This ensures that the black remains intense, even when viewed against the light.

Gold and silver hot stamping introduce carefully balanced metallic highlights without overwhelming the design.

The result is a bottle that appears to have been screen-printed directly, achieving a clean, almost laboratory-inspired aesthetic that perfectly suits a thermal cosmetics collection.

250 ml facial mist: subtle metallic effects

The facial mist follows a more understated design approach.

Silver metallised paper provides the base material, while deep black printing covers the surface, leaving selected graphic elements unprinted so that the metallic substrate remains visible.

This creates a foil-stamping-like effect that is visually consistent with the shower gel, despite the use of different materials.

The result is a cohesive product range defined by deep black tones, metallic effects and a clean, uncluttered design.

The technical details behind the design

Water- and moisture-resistant adhesives ensure that the labels remain securely attached in bathroom and shower environments without peeling or becoming cloudy.

This is particularly important for preserving the transparent appearance of the no-label-look finish throughout the product’s lifespan.

Low-migration inks also meet the specific technical requirements associated with cosmetics packaging.

Ultimately, Thermals demonstrates how every technical decision can support a brand’s visual identity.

The collection is refined, tactile and consistent across the entire range. The product speaks for itself, with understated elegance.
