At Gráficas Alarcón, we specialise in olive oil label printing. With over 20 years’ experience in roll label printing, we work with olive oil mills and bottling companies throughout Spain.
A technical and creative approach to ensure every label reflects the true value of the product.
We develop bespoke label design and printing projects for extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), olive oil cooperatives, bottling companies and food brands looking for a specialist olive oil label supplier that combines technical expertise, design advice and industrial production capacity.
We handle production runs from 5,000 to over 200,000 labels, with BRC certification for food packaging and materials specifically developed to withstand the demands of the olive oil sector.
A specialist olive oil label manufacturer designs and prints labels tailored to the technical, regulatory and operational requirements of olive oil mills and bottling companies.
We provide olive oil mills and bottling companies with a complete self-adhesive label design and printing service, supported by our in-house design team and consistent lead times of 15 to 20 days.
Our in-house design team supports clients from the initial concept through to the final delivery of their labels. When clients already have their own design, we adapt the production process to the technical specifications of the project while preserving the original design.
The goal is not simply to print a label. The goal is to develop a solution that performs reliably on the bottling line, complies with food labelling regulations and maintains a flawless appearance throughout the product’s shelf life.
The main technical challenge for an olive oil label is not the printing or the design. The real challenge is withstanding continuous contact with oil throughout the bottle’s shelf life.
When oil runs down the neck of the bottle and comes into contact with the label, it can penetrate the paper, cause dark stains, reduce the legibility of mandatory information and affect the brand’s image.
Olive oil bottle labels need to address a specific technical issue: oil dripping during use. Papers with tested greaseproof treatment and polypropylene films are the substrates best suited to this requirement.
A greaseproof label for olive oil is made from substrates with oil-resistant barriers that prevent the oil from penetrating the paper and damaging the print.
Unlike conventional papers, greaseproof materials maintain the label’s visual integrity even when the bottle is handled repeatedly and oil comes into contact with its surface.
Greaseproof papers are commonly used when the aim is to preserve the texture and natural appearance of paper without compromising protection against oil and grease. They are a popular choice in sectors such as food, bakery and artisan products, where packaging appearance plays an important role.
Polypropylene (PP) films, available in white or clear finishes, offer excellent resistance to moisture, grease and abrasion. The clear version also creates an attractive no-label look, visually integrating the label with the bottle and giving the impression that the design has been printed directly onto the surface. The result is a clean, refined appearance similar to screen printing on glass, but with greater production flexibility and a more cost-effective solution.
The choice between greaseproof paper and polypropylene will depend mainly on the type of product, the conditions of use and the brand image you want to convey. While greaseproof paper provides a more natural and traditional appearance, polypropylene offers greater durability and a wider range of finishing options for projects seeking a more refined look.

MATERIALS
A common mistake is to choose a label based solely on appearance or price.
An olive oil label should be considered a technical component of the packaging. If the material is not designed to withstand contact with food-grade oils and fats, issues can arise that affect the product’s appearance and cause problems during distribution and sale.
At Gráficas Alarcón, we select materials according to the type of bottle, the target market and the expected storage conditions.
The most commonly used materials are:
The most commonly used finishes in the sector include four-colour process printing and protective varnish or lamination.
When required, special finishes such as gold foil stamping, embossing and Braille varnish can also be incorporated, while maintaining consistent production and standard lead times.
Food safety is an essential consideration in any olive oil labelling project.
At Gráficas Alarcón, we use food-safe low-migration inks and materials developed to minimise the risks associated with direct migration, migration through the substrate, set-off migration and gas-phase migration.
Olive oil label printing must comply with a specific regulatory framework.
Olive oil label printing in Spain is governed by Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on materials intended to come into contact with food and Royal Decree 760/2021 on olive oil quality. BRC certification and the use of low-migration inks are among the standards required by major retail chains.
Mandatory information on an olive oil label includes:
Spain is a global leader in the olive oil sector and has a strong export focus, with exports worth more than €6.1 billion in 2024 and accounting for nearly 40% of global olive oil exports.
This growth, combined with increasing competition in domestic and international markets, is leading more olive oil mills and bottling companies to view labels as a key tool for differentiating their products and strengthening their brand image.

At Gráficas Alarcón, we specialise in medium and long production runs for olive oil mills and bottling companies.
In 2025, we worked on more than 300 projects and produced 4 million self-adhesive labels, with typical production runs ranging from 5,000 to over 200,000 labels.
This capacity enables us to support new product launches, brand redesigns, range extensions and export campaigns while maintaining consistent lead times.
Spain maintains a leading position in global olive oil exports. Markets such as Italy, the United States, Japan, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates continue to see growing demand for Spanish olive oil.
A significant proportion of the olive oil labels we produce are destined for international markets, including Asia, where demand for Spanish olive oil is growing as awareness of its nutritional benefits increases.
For this reason, we develop label solutions designed to withstand varying conditions of humidity, temperature and sea freight.
At Gráficas Alarcón, we have been working with olive oil mills, cooperatives and bottling companies of different sizes and business models for many years.
One of our long-standing clients is Aceites de las Heras, a family-run company based in Utiel, Valencia, specialising in the production, bottling and marketing of olive oil. Aceites de las Heras and Gráficas Alarcón have worked together for many years, collaborating on the development and production of self-adhesive labels for a range of products.
Our extensive experience working on projects for olive oil producers enables Gráficas Alarcón to understand the sector’s key requirements, including label resistance to oil and grease, reliable performance on automated bottling lines, compliance with export requirements and adherence to applicable food labelling regulations.
This practical knowledge of the olive oil sector enables us to provide expert technical advice on selecting the right materials, finishes and printing solutions for each project.
The best-performing materials are papers with tested greaseproof technology and polypropylene films.
